In The Beginning…

A History of Amber Tamblyn…Online

Amber made her presence known online in 1999 with a website hosted on Angelfire called Amber Rose Tamblyn – The Official Fan Club Web Site.  It was the perfect website for a teenage girl – pink with lots of flowers.  It had cute links such as The Rose Garden and Forever Amber. It even had a Poetry Corner, Personal Photo Album, and Tamblyn Thoughts – where she would share her opinion on a particular subject.  One piece she wrote was titled “Hollywood is Hard”. There was an online Fan Club (that replaced the offline fan club Amber had even before that.  For $20 you could send away and receive: an AMTAM Fan Club Card, the first Official AMTAM Newsletter, a color photo autographed by Amber and her Dad Russ in the 1997 Nurse's Ball, and three more newsletters personally created by Amber and her helpers.)   and Chat Room that housed chats Amber held along with her General Hospital co-stars. From the beginning she was famous for bringing her co-stars to her website – something the fans loved and she still does today.  You could also buy official Amber merchandise!  Her two poetry books “Of the Dawn” and “Plenty of Ships” were for sale, along with a mug with her picture from the beach bash she attended with her GH co-stars, a poster of her as a child dressed up for Halloween as ‘Amber the Barbarian’, and a video of her breakfast at the GH Fan Club weekend.

Amber’s website moved to amtam.com and included an ezboard message forum for fans to chat on. Amber posted under the screen name ‘amberfreakaholic’ and her mother (still) under the name ‘Big Momma’. The forum was very active and could get very heated when Amber shared her opinion on any given subject.

In 2002 Amber launched her re-designed, more sophisticated black and red web site along with a new message forum.  She still posts regularly with a new group of fans that discovered her through Joan of Arcadia.
